Many Western physicians have refused to acknowledge Acupuncture or Chinese medicine as a healing art. The world used to view Chinese medicine with skepticism as a mystic art because they lacked the understanding of the energy flow within the electro-magnetic body.

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medical treatment. It consists of regulating or balancing the energy flow or life-force along invisible pathways or channels called meridians. Traditional Chinese medicine has recorded instances dating as far back as two thousand years before the birth of Christ. This is in sharp contrast to the American or Western forms of health care, which have been in existence for a much shorter time span (the American Medical Association, the largest health care member association in the United States, was formed in 1847, some 3,800 years after the first mention of traditional Chinese medicine).

The energy flow known in Chinese medicine is completely different from that of the blood or lymph circulation, or even that of the nervous system. Unlike Western medicine which uses surgery, drug therapy, and the general treatment of symptoms, Chinese medical techniques prevent pain during surgery, remove symptoms by correcting the disorder, as well as treating and curing disease and aiding in drug detoxification.

Besides the treatment of diseases and illness including allergies, headaches, neck and back pain, fatigue, migraines, anxiety, depression, stres, insomnia, sinusitis, drug addiction, and many others ailments, prevention is also of greatest importance and is seen as vital part of Acupuncture.
